Kes\u00e4ll\u00e4 halukkaille tarjottiin merivesikylpyj\u00e4 ja meriuintia, talvella saunontaa. Suositussa lomakohteessa vieraili vuosisataa my\u00f6hemmin elefantteja, joita esiteltiin kiert\u00e4v\u00e4ss\u00e4 n\u00e4yttelyss\u00e4. Ehk\u00e4 juuri n\u00e4ist\u00e4 eksoottisista vieraista inspiroituneena mereen pystytettiin 1950-luvun lopulla my\u00f6s suuret puuelefantit, joiden k\u00e4rs\u00e4\u00e4 pitkin sai laskea mereen \u2013 ensin yksi lapsille tarkoitettu matalampaan veteen ja sitten toinen suuremmille syvemp\u00e4\u00e4n veteen. Jonkin ajan kuluttua puuelefantit v\u00e4syiv\u00e4t ja poistuivat rannalta. Elefanttien tarinalla on viel\u00e4 yksi j\u00e4nnitt\u00e4v\u00e4 kerros \u2013 nykyisen teatterirakennuksen ja kirjaston v\u00e4lisell\u00e4 alueella oli viel\u00e4 80 vuotta sitten keskiaikaisen ritarilinnan porttirakennus, jota alettiin sen ulkon\u00e4\u00f6n vuoksi kutsua Elefanttivarastoksi. Se taas antoi nimen rakennuksen edess\u00e4 kulkeneelle kadulle.<\/p><p>Lomakohteen 175-vuotisp\u00e4iv\u00e4n kunniaksi mereen laitettiin taas elefantti \u2013 lomatunnelman ja ilon symboliksi ja lapsille el\u00e4myksellisen vesiliukum\u00e4en tarjoajaksi. Jotta elefantilla ei olisi yksin\u00e4\u00e4n tyls\u00e4\u00e4, tuotiin jonkin ajan kuluttua l\u00e4hell\u00e4 olevaan Rantapuistoon tekonurmesta tehty elefanttiperhe.
